Enjoy a Mini Barbecue on Your Next Hiking Trip

So you have decided to improve your health in 2018 by taking on hiking?  Well, hiking is a fantastic fitness workout to adopt this year.  Hiking is amazing for building strong muscles, for keeping your weight intact and this activity is incredibly interesting because you get to see and explore different scenes every time you go hiking.  Hiking trails are breathtaking and these trails are fantastic for getting rid of stress, depression, and anxiety.  Plenty of hiking trails also have great picnic areas where you can sit down for a while, catch your breath and enjoy the view.

While you are out there enjoying the scenes you might as well have a bit of fun with friends on a mini barbecue stop.  Here are a few tips to help you enjoy a mini barbecue the next time you set out on a hiking expedition.

Stash essentials in a hydration belt

Hydration waist packs or fanny packs are making a huge comeback with hiking enthusiasts.  These packs are so convenient to use.  You can stash away all your essentials like car keys, your cell phone and your wallet and keep these items safely tucked against your waste.  The waist pack makes it easy to access these items as you hike and hydration packs also have a space where you can stash your water bottle and stay hydrated as you go.

Get a mini backpack

Your barbecue essentials won’t fit into your hydration belt but all you need for a mini barbecue session in the mountains is a mini backpack.  Get a small backpack that is just big enough to contain the bare essentials so you won’t get dragged down by your barbecue gear.

Pack essential barbecue gear

Now the real planning begins.  Get all the essentials you will need for a mini barbecue session.  Pack a lighter, a small packet of charcoal, a small steel spade, a mini grill and some vacuum sealed smoked sausages.  Smoked meats will endure the heat during the hiking trip and they are quick to prepare on the grill.  A multi-purpose knife or utility knife can also be a good tool to include in your kit because you can do all sorts of odd barbecue tasks and even use the utility knife for eating.  It can also be good if you and friends divide barbecue essentials amongst one another in order to reduce the weight load.

Look for your spot as you go

Now that you have everything ready, you can set out on your first mini barbecue hiking expedition.  Set out and keep your eyes peeled for the perfect area to start a mini barbecue.  Once you have your spot you can grab your mini garden spade, clear an area for your fire and build a mini fireplace.  Sit back, relax and enjoy the view while your meat is being grilled and enjoy a quick snack before you take on the long journey back home.

Combine your hiking expedition with barbecue session fitness and fun can finally meet and you can get so much more out of each and every hiking session.
